The Swedish luxury carmaker Volvo has launched the much-awaited facelift version of its flagship SUV, the XC90, in the Indian market. Priced at Rs 1.03 crore (ex-showroom), the 2025 XC90 comes with significant design updates, premium features, and continues with its mild-hybrid powertrain.

The 2025 Volvo XC90 retains its imposing silhouette but sports several noteworthy design changes inspired by the all-electric Volvo EX90. The front fascia features a revised grille with diagonal slats, sleeker ‘Thor’ hammer LED headlights, and redesigned bumpers. The rear profile gets darker tail-lamps while the SUV rides on a new set of 20-inch black diamond-cut multi-spoke alloy wheels.

Inside, the refreshed XC90 continues with its premium black leather upholstery but receives a notable tech upgrade. The SUV now features a larger 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system (replacing the 9-inch unit) with improved resolution. The system runs on Google-based software and supports over-the-air (OTA) updates.

Under the bonnet, the 2025 XC90 continues with the same 2.0-litre mild-hybrid turbo-petrol engine, which produces 250hp and 360Nm of maximum torque. The powertrain features a 48V battery system and comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Power is sent to all four wheels through an all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup, allowing the luxury SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 7.7 seconds.

The 2025 Volvo XC90 has been launched at Rs 1.03 crore (ex-showroom), making it approximately Rs 2 lakh more expensive than the outgoing model. In this premium luxury SUV segment, the XC90 competes with the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, and Audi Q7. Like the Audi Q7, the XC90 is available only with a petrol engine option, while the Mercedes GLE and BMW X5 offer both petrol and diesel variants.
