The Bridal Stylist team which includes designer Neeta Lulla, Shailesh Moolya, National Creative Director- Hair, Lakmé Salon and Sushma Khan, National Creative Director- Makeup, Lakmé Salon have curated special looks, that would help the modern bride to form her look. This year, we go an opportunity to ask Lakme’s Expert Bridal Team, a few queries every bride to be, has in her mind.

1. Ms Lulla, Tell us more about this modern age bride, doesn’t want to wear the cliched red, pink and maroon lahenga?
Bridal wear today isn’t just about the ensemble – but also about hair and makeup that constitute the overall look. This season, the bridal looks co-created by me and the Lakme Salon Bridal experts are a humble attempt to revolutionize bridal fashion in India by presenting a symphony of hair, makeup and the ensemble. The range of themes is evolved and contemporary, yet enigmatic and resplendent.

Gone are the days when women only looked for concentrated embroideries and restricted embellishments on their wedding outfits. Today’s bride is a woman with multiple personas. Hence, the real aim is to break away from the severity of clichéd bridal and focus on magnanimity, visual appeal and practicality.

Today the wedding ambience has moved from halls and banquets to exotic resorts and beach locations. The modern day bride is one who dares to be different, one who would love to explore fresh and contemporary looks for her wedding which elicits her personality rather than settling for a conventional bridal look.

Bridal attire has been given a new sensibility, hair and makeup has become a pivotal aprt of the overall bridal look. The show is an attempt to revolutionize bridal fashion in India by presenting a symphony of bridal hair, makeup and ensemble.

2. Ms Lulla, What makes you happier- Brides or Bollywood?
Both make me equally happy in their own respective spaces. Difficult to pick one. But I do love working with real brides. This time I will be working with real brides who will be walking the ramp as a result of winning the KNOW –YOUR- BRIDAL- STYLE” Quiz by Lakme Salon. After my daughter, Nishka got married recently, I understand their expectations and anxieties. Keeping these in mind, Lakme Salon and I have created a collection of looks to suit every occasion and aesthetic taste.

3. Could you please describe the perfect look for a winter 2015 Bride?
The perfect look for a winter 2015 bride would be a Sculpt look. This season at the Lakme Fashion week, Lakme Salon and I have co-created an entire look for the Brides, Sculpt being one of them. This look comprises of structured flowing skirts with crop tops and interestingly long dupattas, well- structured hairstyles and sharp high definition make-up. The looks are chiseled, well defined and contoured, highlighting sharp facial features

4. A must have in every brides trousseau?
Other than the right makeup and hair to complement the outfit, the right kind of jewellery is the most important point every bride needs to keep in mind. For me, uncut diamond or gold sets work very well. A good watch, a pair of shoes or footwear that could be teamed up with anything other than bridal wear, a nice bag, a pair of daily wear earrings and a bracelet/ bangle that has a classic look are accessories that I believe can never go wrong, even on a bridal outfit.

5. Mr. Moolya, tell us about the hairstyle trends, every bride should try in 2015?
This season at the Lakme Salon Bridal Show, look out for lots of textures, simpler, easy going edgy bridal hairstyles that aren’t very complicated. Messy bouffants, textured open hair – lesser neat and clean looks are replaced by waves and undone sort of hairdos.

6. Do you recommend any hair products for the pre-wedding ritual?
I would recommend going for a trim to shape hair and make it look healthy. Don’t opt for a new hair cut just before D-day. Keep hair long so you can play with styles. Indulge in a good hair spa at Lakme Salon like MoroccanOil Hair Spa and use MoroccanOil every day for healthy shiny hair and to protect it from the product used at the wedding.

7. Ms. Sushma, will this modern day bride opt for the current strobing trend?
The modern Indian bride doesn’t like to limit herself to just one look – she mixes and matches her makeup with her ensemble to create a contemporary, modern look. Smokey eyes with glitter is one such example. The No-Makeup look and the use of nude subtle shades is out – It is done to death and does not go well with the traditional ensemble of the Indian bride. The bride today is very open for techniques like strobing.

8.What are the five Lakme makeup products, every bride must own?
• Lakme Absolute Precision Liner
• Lakme Absolute Sculpt Studio Matte Lipstick
• Lakme Absolute Blush Duos
• Lakme CC Cream
• Lakme Absolute Skin Gloss Reflection Serum

9. Do you believe in the red lehnga-red lipstick phenomenon, or it’s a makeup faux pas?
It depends from bride to bride really. It works best for the bride who wants a traditional look.

10. Any tips you’d like to give brides and grooms-to-be?
Brides and Grooms alike tend to get stressed before the wedding. They should calm their frayed nerves by opting for soothing services such as Hair spas, facials, indulgent mani-pedis to look their best and not let the wedding stress get to them!

Lakme Salon’s bridal show, bridal attire has been given a new sensibility, not restricting it to the traditional patterns and designs. Every bride-to-be can incorporate these tips, or contact the Bridal team for a special look.
