The most powerful Range Rover Velar is here – It packs a V8 and goes from 0 to 100 km/hr in 4.3 seconds


British Carmaker Jaguar Land Rover last week unveiled their most powerful performance-driven model under the Velar moniker – the Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition. With the bells and whistles thrown in, this mid-size SUV exhibits more “performance, luxury and exclusivity” inside out, the company claims.

Performance-wise, the Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition’s mill has been upgraded to a Supercharged 5.0L V8 petrol engine which makes 0-60 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and climbs to a max speed of 274 km/h, hence making it most powerful Velar variant on offer till date.

Aesthetically, this variant of the popular mid-size SUV receives a series of cosmetic updates on the outside, as well as some suave touchpoints in the cabin, which ensure both, the model’s purposeful appearance and also paying heed to Velar’s distinctive configuration.

Exterior Updates – Opulence supplemented with Performance
A new front bumper with larger air intakes to cool the V8 Supercharged engine; a new grille and lower side mouldings partnered with an updated rear bumper featuring integrated quad exhaust finishers, are evident cosmetic updates to be spotted on this new performance SUV.

The SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is the only Velar available in Satin Byron Blue – a metallic paint finish from the Special Vehicle Operations’ Premium Palette range. Also, the Range Rover lettering has been further revamped with a knurled finish on the metal element of the two-piece letters hence adding more detail to the exterior.

The exterior updates synchronise with a transmission tunnel undertray to further cut the air more efficiently.

The lightweight 21-inch forged aluminium wheels further lead to the mid-sized SUV’s enhanced performance. The larger wheels also aid the car’s performance by providing increased grip and accommodating larger brakes. Patrons can also opt for the 22-inch rims with a Silver Sparkle finish and diamond-turned edging.

Its 395 mm front and 396 mm diameter rear brake discs boast of a two-piece construction to optimise weight, while their designs distribute heat more effectively while managing the higher braking forces generated during high performance driving. Adding to the visual bit, the car banks of the red brake calipers which can be opted out with the Gloss Black calipers for a more discreet stance.

Cabin Grandeur
On the inside, the car’s upholstery is made from twin-stitched, perforated and quilted Windsor leather, and come in options of four colour combinations – Ebony, Cirrus, Vintage Tan and Pimento.

In the front, the SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is equipped with 20-way adjustable heated and cooled seats with memory and massage functions as standard.

The distinctive sports steering wheel featuring a contoured rim and the aluminium gear shift paddles, echo the car’s opulence in touch.

Furthermore, the 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display featuring updated digital dials adds to the visual appeal inside this performance mid-size SUV.
