The launch of the sixth edition of the SWISS-Narendra Kumar calendar 2014/15 was a fabulous affair. The theme this year, for both, the much-awaited fashion-art calendar as well as the glittering event was, “Swiss Hospitality.”
In keeping with the theme, the evening saw the stunning Regal Room at the Trident, Nariman Point being transformed into a mini airport landing with the runway being purposefully made to resemble an aircraft landing strip. Models alighted from the aeroplane and daintily sashayed onto the make-shift ramp in gorgeous creations designed by none other than one of India’s finest couturists, Narendra Kumar (who looked positively charming in a pilot’s get up).
The breathtaking Lucerne in Switzerland played host to this year’s calendar shoot which for the first time ever, saw beautiful, leggy Swiss cabin crew members pose for the uber talented Prasad Naik. Kumar felt using cabin crew members in place of Bollywood stars and established models would be a refreshing change and would, “beautifully reflect the ethos of this year’s theme.”
The fun-filled night was peppered with lovely little details such as SWISS boarding passes being used as invitations, personalised welcomes at the venue by flight attendants, in-flight announcements used as a part of the showcase and other such surprises. The food being served at the event was scrumptious and quintessentially Swiss. Classics like Julienne Chicken Roesti Zurich style, Roesti with Mushroom Ragout and Swiss Dark Chocolate Mousse were especially well received by the guests.
In attendance were Indu and Ranjit Shahani, Deveika and Suresh Bhojwani, Amrita Puri, Parveen Dusanj, Dilshad Khambata, Ash Chandler, Ivana Perovic, Anil Chopra, Divya Palat and Aditya Hitkari and several others from Mumbai’s swish set.
