This year also, Swarovski has collaborated with celebrated designers like Shantanu & Nikhil Mehra, Tarun Tahiliani, Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and Rohit Bal.
The season started off with the breath taking creations of Shantanu & Nikhil. For the Fall/Winter 2017 collection, they took inspiration from the Indian Armed Forces and integrated its virtues with the sparkling Swarovski crystals. This unique collection is called “The Regiment”.
Shantanu & Nikhil’s journey began with a trip to the Swarovski headquarters in Austria to meet their design head and to choose from the vast selection of crystals offered by Swarovski. Crystals designed by automative genius Chris Bangle, appealed to them the most and they used his crystals in brooches that appeared as medallions on a military uniform, giving it a tinge of glamour. This collection is their vision of belonging to something that is bigger than ourselves and its underlying modern India spirit that symbolizes progressivism and distinctiveness.
Abu Jani- Sandeep Khosla, known for their classical and elegant collections have put together a scintillating collection with organza, silk, satins, georgettes all embellished with crystals from Swarovski adding to the glamour quotient of the outfit. The collection was launched in collaboration with Shaadi by Marriott at the first annual bridal show.
Rohit Bal inaugurated India Couture Week 2017 with the shimmering crystals by Swarovski. His collection takes you back in time, reminding you of long lost treasures you will find in museums. His collection is aptly named Shahaan-e-Khaas. Reviving heritage pieces from the Mughal era, this collection is a tribute to the lost craft and traditions of the yesteryears.
“Tarakanna” by Tarun Tahiliani, translated to Stardust, with the ethereal collection with understated glamour. The light and layered outfits with the twinkling Swarovski’s fit like a second skin and give it a fairy like feel.
