London’s elite Italian eatery San Lorenzo restaurant group has made its international debut by entering the Indian market. The Italian restaurant has opened its outlet called Maritime by San Lorenzo at Taj Lands End in Mumbai.
The West London restaurant, which is known for its signature lasagne will serve Italian specialties, drawing inspiration from Lorenzo Berni’s family recipes. Alessandro Bechini and Marco Foroni, two San Lorenzo trained Italian chefs will forefront the launch of Maritime in Mumbai. The menu at Maritime by San Lorenzo will pay homage to true, rustic Italian gastronomy, and serve signature dishes, from Risotto with prawns and courgettes to Tagliata of chicken breast with balsamic sauce. Consistent with Indian culinary habits, the menu will feature plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. The wine list at Maritime by San Lorenzo is diverse and features 64 Italian wine labels and its Prosecco Bar will serve a variety of cocktails, from Kir Royals to fruity Bellinis.
A mix of food and legacy, Maritime features open interiors, which is washed in pastels, with a white and blue ocean theme inspired by Lorenzo’s experience as a sailor. By celebrating ‘La Dolce Vita’, the restaurant established its role as a ‘must-visit’ for Hollywood movie stars, royals, sport legends, artists and musicians including Sofia Loren, Andy Warhol, of Sonia Gandhi and late Pandit Ravi Shankar and the Rolling Stones.
