Sabyasachi launches the biggest flagship store in New Delhi


Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee is all set to weave New Delhi in his traditional work. The man with the bridal wand launched a flagship store in the heart of Delhi, located next to the Qutub Minar.

Spread over two wings and 13,500 square feet in Mehrauli, the curated store boasts an impressive collection of vintage photographs,lithographs,antique furniture and sculptures and art inspired by Qajar paintings of the Persian dynasty. Housing 57 Dutch hand-painted chandeliers, 112 antique carpets, and a variety of rare artefacts the store is the perfect background for Sabyasachi’s pieces.

It is divided into two wings, separated by a heritage monument with a grand staircase. Wing one is a house to women’s bridal wear, while the other wing consists of ready to wear collection along with sarees and kurtas with a separate floor for menswear. As far as the collection is concerned, one would witness Sabyasachi’s forte, which is wedding ensemble. Other than that, the store also has a special line-up of Kanjivarams and Banarasi, hand printed organza sarees inspired by old royalty of India and lots of Khadi.

The designer has collaborated with Hyderabad based jewelers Kishandas and Co, Decor India, Trunks company, Jaipur for the store, which houses a couture jewelry section, a curated collection of luggage collectibles besides apparel by the designer.

Sabyasachi has given ten months of his life to get this store together, and each and every piece of art-work that one will witness in the store is hand-picked.
