Review: Sunday brunchin’ at The Boston Butt

As the city’s first bar, smokery and charcuterie, the Boston Butt recreates the vibe of a Southern American diner right in SoBo. We recently headed here for a Sunday brunch. Greeted with its plaid corner couches, Prohibition-era drinks and smoked fare, we couldn’t wait to try the food. After all with the Vintage American décor, jazz music floating in the background and a menu curated by Siddharth Kashyap, we knew that were in for a treat!

Tahini glazed salad

The restaurant is a split-level space, with the bar upstairs and a “family-friendly” restaurant below. We started off with a selection from their raw bar which was delightful tahini glazed smoked sweet potato, carrot, beetroot, spinach, quinoa, feta and walnut. It was so good that we were left swooning at the depth of the flavours. Reading through the menu, we loved the selections and found it to be extremely well-curated and fun.
Glitter Beer

To beat the heat, the restaurant does delish wine popsicles and the Glitter Beer which is liquid gold. And also Instagram gold! It contains notes of rich, buttery salted-caramel while the St. Germain Liqueur has floral and fruity notes in it, thanks to the St. Germain elderflower component. We also feasted over the delectable house-made nachos and the hot mess fries which with their addictive flavours are easily the best in town. Our culinary extravaganza continued with the exquisite bourbon-butter baby lobster with citrus-chili-garlic-nut praline which was love at first bite.
Nutella Bloom bread

The bloom bread- pull-apart bread stuffed with gouda, yellow cheddar and burnt garlic quickly became our favourite! For dessert, the Nutella Bloom bread was nutella stuffed pull-apart bread which to us is the God of desserts. All through our meal, we were awe-struck by our server and his knowledge. We found the staff to be friendly, quick at their feet and they definitely seemed to care about our culinary experience. With great live music, experimental drinks, efficient staff and food that is bomb, we cannot recommend this place enough.
