There are very few things as attractive as whipping up and savoring food the real way! And when it comes to Mexican food, you have to come in terms with the fact that the city has had a fragile relationship with it! But enter Xico, situated at Kamala Mills, feast on the food and your heart will say, not anymore!
You will love the Margarita fueled feasts of Huevos Montuleños (Roasted plantains topped with sunny side eggs, cochinita pibil, refried beans, cheese, yucatan style tomato sauce, pickled onions, cilantro), Chilaquiles (Crispy tortilla chips baked with salsas verde, cheese and topped with fried eggs, pico de gallo and avocado) with sweet bites of Panqueques de Camote (Roasted sweet potato pancakes, sweet cream cheese, baked apples and toasted pecans with spiced piloncillo syrup) and more.
We loved the Fideos (vermicelli pasta, toasted garlic, tomato chipotle salsa, requeson, cotija, cilantro); Carnitas (serrano chile salsa, shaved cabbage, radish, cotija) and Carbon Tacos (grilled marinated chicken thighs, fresh tomato salsa, queso fresco).
The crispy rolled taquitos served with shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, tomatillo-avocado salsa quickly won us over. So did the Empanadas (Crispy gujia-like pockets made from masa) and Platos Fuertes (entrees) like Cazuelitas (Cast iron skillets served with tortillas and accompaniments). Ending it with the most delicious French Toast that we had in a while, we were in Mexican-food heaven. It won’t be far-fetched to say that Xico is a gift to the city, credits to the culinary-maestro Chef Jason James!
