Graffiti-splayed walls, extravagant chandeliers, ornate mirrors and Chesterfield sofas; Pranzi Ristorante and Lounge at Khar is just as extravagant as it can get. Offering delish Mediterranean and European fare, and sheesha against a backdrop inspired by Romanesque and Baroque architecture, this one is a beautiful amalgamation of European and Mediterranean experiences.
Each corner here differs from each other in terms of style, color and design yet maintaining a perception as pretty and fascinating as the other. We found the romantically lit stylish dining section perfect for a date night. There is also an upbeat lounge which transports you to a modern Istanbul feel with pop art, tradition and a strong music element.
Going to our meal, we started off with Wild Mushroom Cappuccino which came drizzled with winter truffle oil. It was like a warm and creamy hug that had us mesmerized. Next up were the Wild Mushroom phyllo wraps which were served with spicy harrisa sauce and were just as melt-in-the-mouth as promised. We also sampled the Chicken sheesh taouk with cucumber labneh + taboulleh which was everything succulent and sumptuous.
While we love the DIY sizzler option, the star from the night has to be the spinach and ricotta cheese ravioli with sage butter sauce. A seduction for the palate, it is simply the best ravioli I’ve had in the city. For dessert, the sinful Ecudorian chocolate truffle with cream cheese icing won us over. Panacotta lovers shouldn’t miss the trilogy of panacotta in caramel, berry and chocolate flavours. The menu at Pranzi is a comprehensive mix of Italian and European food which we thoroughly relished. So with food that scores well, aesthetics that appeal and the service that is a star, we’re definitely rooting for this one.
