The effect of constant juggling between multiple things like work life, domestic life and social life is constantly reflected in our skincare conditions. The result of the same is nagging skincare woes like skin breakouts, unevenness, acne, to name a few. With the hectic schedules most of us have, taking time out for skincare on a daily basis is a luxury a very few of us can indulge in. In which case we turn to the experts, and one of them is Dr Jamuna Pai’s cosmetic clinic-SkinLab located at Khar that has been known to cater to these nagging skincare woes through treatments like medi-facials, botox, skin lightening therapies, dermal fillers amongst a plethora of others.
The clinic recently launched an all new range of medi- facials and professional peels. The treatment I chose to try out due to my uneven skin tone was the Express Glow facial which is a quick, in-house insta-glow treatment. Speaking of the interiors of the place which were very simply done in a white palette. The pristinely clean interiors were a reflection of the work ethics of the clinic.
A consultation with Dr Jamuna Pai who has been a celebrated name in skincare, kickstarted a discussion on the various skincare woes (think pimples, dark spots and under-eye circles) and how they can be avoided by eating right, keeping oneself hydrated that will ensure that skin remains moisturized. She consulted me regarding my skin and after carefully analyzing it manually, she told me that I am blessed with a beautiful one apart from a few imperfections which make me who I am and assured me that the facial would work its magic on my visage.
As I walked inside the treatment room, I noticed that it had a very clinical atmosphere with skincare equipments and injectables. My aesthetician Sonali politely told me that the duration of the facial is 30 minutes. She began with cleansing my face with the in-house cleansing milk enriched with Vitamin C, mulberry and milk which had a calming sensation on my face. After the deep cleansing ritual, I felt that the real texture of my skin was visible.
This was followed by quick skin polishing with a microdermabrasion machine which uses a spray of microcrystals to remove the layer of dead skin. The microparticles are blasted across the face through a skin vacuum cleaner which facilitates blood circulation and gives the skin a healthy glow. The round-edged rod that heats up slightly was rubbed into my skin in circular motions for a quick face polishing. While this might hurt, the warmth of the rod opens pores and locks moisture deep into your skin.
A brightening peel of 10 minutes was the climax to the treatment which did end up tackling the unevenness. However, what’s not the good part of the facial is the pungent odour of the peel. Given the result-oriented treatment which works as a gratifying quick-fix, you might decide to forgive this though. Also I would say that the facial is less relaxing but it is worth the minor edge. By the end of the treatment, my face not only felt more supple but I could also see that it looked even.
An evident glow and instant results are the few highlights of the facial. I felt my skin glowing with health apart from the much-needed moisture which was replenished back to my skin. They say that the true test of a cosmetic facial is how it looks not on the day when you experience it but during the days to come which I found quite gratifying with my face glowing even 5 days after the facial. I would definitely recommend this quick-fix when time is of essence and you expect instant results.
