Review: An Epicurean Journey Through History: A taste of The Silk Road at JW Sahar

JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar known to introduce innovative Food and Beverage concepts and setting culinary benchmarks are all set to recreate the iconic “Silk Road” offering guests an exclusive gastronomical experience with ancient and contemporary delicacies from Guangzhou, Sichuan, Samarkand, Bukhara, Istanbul, and Venice. We had a taste of some ancient culinary masterpieces here, from the tantalising Firin Makarna: Turkish style pasta with cheddar to lip-smacking to Sambali: a dessert made with Semolina and the best of Roman delicacies.

Why it’s a must-try:
The Silk Road was a historic trade route that dated from the second century B.C. until the 14th century A.D. and stretched right from Asia to the Mediterranean, traversing China, India, Persia, Arabia, Greece, ended in Italy and facilitated heavy trade.

As an ode to the Silk Road from March 6th to 14th, 2020, JW Cafe brings together four culinary maestros each specializing in the cuisine from the Silk Route trade regions. The menu will showcase classic and ancient recipes providing guests with the opportunity to experience the authenticity of this historic trade route.

The cuisine is rich in meats, with a signature main course Palov (plov or osh or”pilaf”) typically made with rice, pieces of meat, grated carrots and onions are usually cooked in a Kazan (or deghi) over an open fire.
