From celebrity-filled Olive in Bandra to the ravishing SodaBottleOpenerWala, restaurateur AD Singh has definitely changed the way India eats. So when Goa’s renowned Thalassa traveled from Vagator to the Olive Group’s Lady Baga, I dropped in to chat with him and sampled the delectable Thalassa delicacies.
He shared, “So you know, we have done a Thalassa pop-up before. It’s become even more popular and better now. Lady Baga is our Goa beach shack place, so we thought of doing it here. We are trying it for three months and will keep it going if it works well.”
Going to my food experience, I loved the refreshing Watermelon & Feta Salad and Thalassa’s famed Greek Pita Wraps. The perfectly-flavored Lamb Gyros are another recommendation. For mains, Kleftiko, tender pieces of lamb fillet slowly cooked in a pot of potatoes, vegetables and herbs, topped with Kalamata olive oil, cheddar and feta cheese, covered with filo pastry and served with bread; and Lamb Moussaka, layers of potato, eggplant and lamb mince, topped with béchamel, red sauce and cheese absolutely tantalized my tease-buds.
The restaurant-maestro said, “For everyone who goes to Goa, Thalassa a part of their bucket-list. We are really impressed by the response we have received till now.” The pop-up menu includes options include Gianio-tiko, grilled feta and hot pita bread with tomatoes, peppers, onions, red chili pepper and olive oil; Spicy Mushroom Saganaki, juicy mushrooms cooked in fresh, spicy tomato sauce, and topped with cheddar, feta cheese and Greek herbs; and Mini Chicken Souvlaki with Dip.
Kebab-lovers will love noshing on options like the Thalassa Kebab, a mix of buff and lamb, served on a double layer of grilled pita, topped with yogurt and spicy sauce; Lamb Kebab; and Chicken Fillet Souvlaki. For dessert, the baklava here is the best! The pop-up is a lovely opportunity for Thalassa loyalists to get their fix of all things Greek, Goa-style.
