We pick the top 5 Chinese restaurants in Mumbai

Think authenticity, seasonings and tangy flavours. Most definitely, I’m referring to rich and diversified cuisines from China. This week, we have prepped up a list for all you Chinese culinary enthusiasts. Whether you’re thinking Crystal wontons, Peking duck or Sichuan chilli vegetables, we have the city’s finest pegged out for you. Sure, these luxury diners may drill a small hole in your pockets, but the delectable spread and lip-smacking flavours are certain to justify that.

pan-asian-itc-maratha-15. Pan-Asian at the ITC Maratha, Andheri East
ITC Maratha’s Pan Asian restaurant is a true haven for Asian food connoisseurs. The luxury diner boasts three interactive kitchens and dishes out delectable fare from China and other Asian regions. Chef Wang’s fresh hand-pulled noodles are a must-try! Also, treat your taste buds to the Chinese Stir fry and the Teriyaki Chicken with Glazed Onions. The Chinese paper lamps, bamboo shoots and artefacts complete the feel.
Address: Pan-Asian, ITC Maratha, Sahar Road, Andheri East, Mumbai

ming-yang-taj-lands-end-bandra4. Ming Yang at Taj Land’s End, Bandra
Specializing in Szechwan cuisine, the restaurant’s signature colour is complemented by paintings with Chinese motifs. The split-level restaurant offers a delectable variety of Chinese dishes including the Duck in Oyster Sauce and Scallops in XO Chilli Sauce. The Szechwan Ching -Sin Spicy soup too is highly recommended. Ming Yang is considered one of the top notch Chinese restaurants in the city and we would unarguably suggest it.
Address: Ming Yang, Taj Lands End, Bandstand, Bandra West, Mumbai

china-house-grand-hyatt-santacruz3. China house at Grand Hyatt, Santacruz
China House has done a lot of spadework to ensure the authenticity of its menu: in addition to being staffed by chefs from China, the Hyatt imported the bricks and cement for its wood-fired Peking Duck oven. The Peking Duck is one of the signature dishes of the restaurant and we highly recommend it. Diners sit around five open kitchens (preparing appetisers, noodles and dumplings)
Address: China house, Grand Hyatt, Off Western Express Highway, Santacruz East, Mumbai

yauatcha-bkc2. Yauatcha at BKC
Yauatcha definitely ranks high in my list as one of the best restaurants in the city. Serving a larger than large variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dumplings that will melt in your mouth and tingle your taste buds. All you meat lovers should go in for the Black Pepper Lamb Roll and the Salt and Pepper Tenderloin. Do not count your calories when you visit this fine dining restaurant as the desserts are simply divine. My personal pick- the Raspberry Delice.
Address: Yauatcha, Raheja Towers, Bandra Kurla Complex, Bandra East, Mumbai

golden-dragon-taj-mahal-palace-mumbai1. Golden Dragon at The Taj Mahal Palace, Colaba
Located in the opulent Taj Mahal Palace, Golden Dragon was the city’s first Chinese restaurant. The attention is to the details in the decor is highlighted by traditional symbols keeping true to the oriental trend that is key to the menu and services of the restaurant. If you are lucky, you could even bump into Mr Ratan Tata. We’d go with the Tsinghai Chicken and Stuffed Shiitake. Be careful when ordering mains as the portion sizes are larger than what you’d expect. Try the hearty Chicken supreme in Chilli Oyster sauce.
Address: Golden Dragon, The Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, Apollo Bunder, Colaba, Mumbai
