Paul Smith’s new t-shirts feature the Kala Ghoda Cycle Project


The British menswear label Paul Smith has collaborated with Sameer Kulavoor, to create a series of t-shirts as a part of the Autumn/Winter 2013 collection. These t-shirts feature four prints from Sameer’s Ghoda Cycle Project that features a series of illustrations, which highlight archetypal figures of Mumbai everyday life.

The Ghoda Cycle Project is Indian illustrator Sameer Kulavoor’s interpretation of the innumerable avatars of bicycles in the urban and rural landscape of India. Owner of design studio Bombay Duck Designs, Kulavoor showcased his love for cycling into art, and the result is decoration and design of the cycles of India. His motive was to create awareness about the beauty of how people use, decorate, personalize, accessorize, and modify cycles in India to suit their profession and background. Thus, Paul Smith, who is keenly interested in all things cycling, collaborated with Sameer to produce Paul Smith + Ghoda Cycle Project line of T-shirts.

Paul Smith also hosted a cocktail party to launch the Ghoda Bicycle T-shirts and showcase the new Autumn/Winter 2013 collection at the Paul Smith Shop at Palladium, Mumbai. he guests included Shailender & Shaan Singh, Seema & Jaideep Mehrotra, Anju Chulani, Atul Kasbekar, Chhaya Momaya, Tanaaz Doshi, Che Kurien, Bikram Saluja, Pria Kataria Puri to name a few.

Paul Smith + Ghoda Cycle Project line of T-shirts are priced at Rs 6,500 each and available at Paul Smith stores worldwide, as well as the brand’s Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore outlets.
