Mercedes-Benz has launched the AMG S63 Coupe in India at Rs 2.55 crore, ex-showroom. The luxury performance coupe is the seventh Mercedes-Benz and the fourth AMG model to rolled out in the country this year; the German automaker brought the newly updated S-Class sedan to India a few months back. Directly locking horns with the likes of Porsche Panamera Turbo and the Bentley Continental GT, the S63 Coupe packs 612 bhp and a mammoth 900 Nm of peak torque which is produced by an AMG 4.0-litre V8 Bi-turbo. The new downsized engine replaces the twin-turbo 5.5-litre V8. The engine is paired to a 9-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission that sends the power to all four wheels. The luxury coupe is capable of going from zero to 100kmph in just 3.4 seconds and hit a electronically limited top speed of 300kmph.
On the styling front, the 2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe’s most prominent design elements include the Panamericana grille and sportier apron at the front with two air inlets which are bigger and blacked out, along with the splitter. Additionally, it comes with 19-inch forged light-alloy wheels and the quad-exhausts at the rear. The luxury performance sedan is also equipped with active ride control, driving modes, speed sensitive steering and a track pack, which includes a lap timer and other vehicle data. Inside the cabin, the S63 Coupe is wrapped in Nappa leather and features AMG sports seats in the front and back. To begin with, India will only get the Coupe version of the car. The top-down variant of the AMG S63, available in the international markets, might be launched sometime in the future.
