Being a renowned player in making performance sports cars, AMG is celebrating its 50th Anniversary for catering its customers with high-grade performance. On this occasion, it recently unveiled the fresh roadster in India, the AMG GT Roadster.
The GT Roadster is a unique creation that is, a roadster at heart & performance, but, at the same time, also provides all the luxury that is embedded within. The roaring exhaust note suits just right to the aggressive stance of the GT Roadster. It shares many aspects with the AMG GT R including the Front face to the rear (unlike the roof). The long-hooded GT Roadster wears a Panamericana grille with 15- chrome fins. The lines on the bonnet and the doors look neat and contour back towards the chunky rear. This convertible sports the Twin-turbocharged V8 4-litre petrol engine that puts out 469 hp of horsepower and 630 Nm of peak torque, and ploughs through the tarmac from 0-100 kmph in just 3.9 seconds. The speedometer can tick to a maximum of 302 kmph approximately.
The engine is mated to a seven-speed automatic dual clutch transmission with rear-wheel steering as that on the GT R. The rear wheel steering sees the virtual shift in wheelbase, where the rear wheels spin in opposite direction with respect to the front wheels up to the 100 kmph barrier thereby virtually reducing the wheelbase. However, at speeds 100 kmph and above, all the four-wheels spin in the same direction resulting in an increase in the wheelbase. This is crucial for high-speed stability and agility. However, unlike the carbon-fibre underbody panel present in the GT R, the GT Roadster sports an aluminium iteration of the underbody brace.
Perhaps, the aspects that actually make the GT Roadster prominent in its segment are its subtle design on the outside with luxurious interiors as well. The piano-black interiors seem premium to sight and feel. The aluminium and chrome inserts across the dash and central console add up to its internal beauty. And, on the outside, it boasts the star-shaped 10-spoke wheels which look stunning as well.
The AMG GT Roadster has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs. 2.19 crore and is open for bookings now.
