A smooth ride to the road of success is literally true for Tanmaya Shekhawat. He was gifted a shiny BMW for securing 11th position in the IIT Joint Entrance Exam by a coaching institute in Rajasthan. The director of the institute had announced that whoever achieved a rank under 20 in the IIT JEE would be gifted his BMW. True to his word the director gifted the ecstatic Tanmay his BMW who aims to be a software engineer.
The BMW is worth 27.5 lakhs and has done 1,500 km since its purchase, two years ago by Dr RL Poonia, the director of Samarpan coaching institute.
Gifts and rewards are commonly given by coaching institutes, but this is probably the first time such an expensive gift has been given.
Many believe that this gift could also be a marketing ploy to establish Sikar, which 115 km from Jaipur as the new coaching capital of India. The crown is right now worn by Kota which coaches about 1.5 lakh students every year.
