The InterContinental’s Pure Room offers its guests an allergy-free room

The countless burdens, risks and hassles that come with being a traveller with heightened sensitivities and tons of allergies are unfathomable. Thus, in a bid to make their hotel more comfortable and “allergy friendly,” The Intercontinental Hotel at Marine Drive has launched the PURE Room Concept.

The newly-introduced concept will see the introduction of a set of PURE rooms which are spaces specially designed to cater to those guests with specific hygiene requirements. The stunning sea-facing rooms undergo an intensive 7-step purifying process which result in a drastic improvement of air quality and significant reduction in impact of potential irritants such as mould, dust mites, yeast, bacteria, pollen, viruses, fungi, etc making the rooms suitable for those suffering from asthma, other respiratory problems and severe allergies.

The elaborate and intensive cleaning process includes carpet and surface cleaning, Ozone Shock to remove stubborn odours and the application of PURESHIELD – a Bacteria Static Barrier. The hypo-allergenic rooms will also each have their own individual sanitised ( by tea tree oil ) air handling units, 4-level filtration air purifiers certified by the FDA as class II medical devices and allergy-sensitive encasements for mattress and pillows. Guests commented saying that these lovely soothing rooms provided them with, “The best night’s sleep in a long time.” With this innovative new concept, the hotel has elevated its luxury quotient by leaps and bounds.

The goal of The Intercontinental is to bring to its guests the ultimate experience in personalized comfort, Mr Manas Krishnamoorthy, GM, InterContinental Marine Drive says, “We realize the importance of providing fresh air and an allergen free ambience to all guests, but especially those that suffer from allergies and health conditions. These rooms reinforce our commitment to making each and every one of our guests comfortable, and ensuring a healthy, memorable stay.”
