Gone are the days, when we stood outside an IKEA abroad and wondered, when can we get this in our country? Well, the good news is IKEA is finally stepping in India, and creating probably the largest furniture space ever!
Swedish furniture retailing giant IKEA is in talks with Oberoi Realty to buy a built-to-suit retail space for over Rs 900 crore in the Mumbai-based developer’s upcoming project in suburb of Mumbai. The store will be situated in Borivali and will be spread over 3.5 lakh sqft, making it the largest space to be occupied by a single furniture house anywhere in the country. As the world’s largest cross-cultural furniture bazaar, IKEA has become synonymous with affordable and stylish home décor.
The brand has got some big plans for India, aiming at launching its first store in Hyderabad by autumn 2017, and opening 25 stores across the country by 2025.
