Ferrari zooms back in India with the California T Convertible

Ferrari comes back to India after a prolonged hiatus and bring with it the oldest member of its family, with a new twist. Touted as the most affordable Ferrari, the all new California T Convertible is all set to zoom on Indian roads, and will be soon available in Mumbai and Delhi.

California T is a convertible finding its roots back to the 1950s and is the automaker’s entry-level offering globally. The convertible gets a retractable hard top made from aluminium which takes just 14 seconds to open and close. In terms of power, the California T uses a 3.9-litre Bi-turbo V8 engine with forced induction and is tuned to produce 552 HP of power at 7500 RPM and 755 Nm of torque at 4750 RPM, paired to a 7-speed F1 dual clutch automatic transmission. The California T also comes with F1 TRAC system for enhanced stability and traction.

The California T’s cockpit features a fluid dashboard with round air vents and a new 6.5-inch color screen that runs the infotainment system. Ferrari has done away with steering wheel-mounted stalks and relocated a host of secondary controls to the steering wheel, a quirky setup is a bit of an acquired taste. The California T is as finely-built as any other Ferrari. The seats, the dashboard and the door panels are all covered in premium leather and buyers can order a matching set of leather-upholstered luggage at an extra cost. For extra versatility, the GT sports a pair of cramped back seats that are better used for carrying luggage than passengers. Cargo capacity checks in at 12 cubic feet.

The starting model of this Italian marque costs a not so humble Rs. 3.45 crore in India. Along side the California T convertible, which is also the cheapest from the Italian brand, Ferrari also commercially launched four other models — 488GTB, 458 Spider, 458 Speciale and F12 Berlinetta — priced in the range of Rs 3.99-4.87 crore.
