Ducati has launched the new Panigale V2 in India priced at Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Panigale V2 is Ducati’s first BS6-compliant motorcycle in the country and replaces the 959 Panigale in the Italian manufacturer’s line-up to become the new entry-level supersport model. It’s also priced Rs 1.7 lakh more than the outgoing 959 Panigale, for which you get updated styling, a minor bump in power, and other hardware updates. Starting with the design updates, the V2’s styling is inspired by the more expensive and capable Panigale V4, which includes the sharp headlight design and a sporty single-sided aluminium swingarm. Although, the frame of the new V2 is carried over from the 959 Panigale, but the sub-frame is new to accommodate for the updated rear-end design.

Powering the new Panigale V2 is Ducati’s 955cc Superquadro twin-cylinder engine which was also found on the 959. However, Ducati has updated the engine that is not only BS6-compliant but gets an increase of 5hp and 2Nm of torque, making the new output 155hp at 10,750rpm and 104Nm of torque at 9,000rpm. The Panigale V2 also gets Ducati Quick Shift (Up/Down) as standard in addition to the latest generation electronics suite based on a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) which consists of cornering ABS, anti-wheelie control and engine brake control. Also new is the 4.3″ colour TFT display that can be used to select between the three riding modes (Race, Sport, Street). Mr. Bipul Chandra, Managing Director of Ducati India, said: “The Panigale portfolio is a significant milestone in Ducati’s superbike journey that has brought incredible recognition to the brand. With the entry of Panigale V2, we bring a model in the family that looks and feels more accessible while delivering the true Ducati experience. Built to impress, it is a superbike with a decisive character and beginners as well as experts will have a lot of fun on it.”
