At last – H&M to open its first store in September in Delhi, Mumbai next

Sure we do have Zara but it always has something missing and it is clearly not the same as H&M. Any foreign trip would be incomplete without bags of the Swedish retailer. But those days are over as the fashion giant is all set to enter India with a store in the capital city. And might I say, it’s about time!

Ever since fast-fashion and supposedly pocket-friendly brand Forever 21 opened shop in India in 2013, all eyes have been on the next big name in the apparel industry, which happens to be H&M. It didn’t help that there have been talks about India’s own H&M outlet since 2013 itself, but no action. So far, word on the street is that the retail store is set to raise the shutters of its flagship store by September 2015 at one of Delhi’s posh-est malls that also houses other big international brands like GAP and Zara.
H&M or Hennes & Mauritz currently owns more than 3,500 stores worldwide; and with a reach that wide, they were bound to set foot here sooner or later (though, we’re glad that’s its sooner). The Swedish multinational takes its place in its industry of retail clothing as the second largest, worldwide. H&M clothes are known to be the latest trendsetters while still managing to keep the pockets of teenagers, college students and young professionals, intact. Let’s just hope the Indian outlets would match local standards of affordability!
