Apple has finally launched the its biggest iPad in India. APPLE‘S new productivity-focused iPad Pro is big on specs, big on screen and big on price. As one of two leading lights in the tablet/laptop hybrid arena, the iPad Pro improves on the conventional iPad in three ways: size, stylus (known as the Pencil) and raw power. But do these improvement amount to a laptop killer?
Apple’s iPad Pro features a 12.9-inch LED-backlit Retina display (2732 x 2048 resolution at 264 ppi). The screen has a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating and is fully-laminated with anti-reflective coating. The iPad Pro also lets users run two apps in full size simultaneously. Apple iPad Pro runs the latest 64-bit A9X chip and also has the M9 motion co-processor. Other features of the device include an 8-megapixel iSight camera capable of recording videos in full-HD resolution, four speakers, and a “full-day” battery life. The device runs iOS 9 and supports multitasking features – Slide Over, Split View, and Picture-in-Picture.
Apple Pencil is the other big addition to the iPad Pro. It comes with a built-in Lightning connector and 15 seconds of charge gives over 30 minutes of use, according to Apple. Apple’s Smart Keyboard is a full-sized foldable keyboard. The keyboard attaches to Apple iPad Pro’s “Smart Connector port,” so there is no need for Bluetooth pairing. Apple’s Smart Keyboard has no gaps between keys and the company says it has been “coated in a water and stain‑resistant finish,” to withstand spills. The keyboard can be used to type, used as a stand and a cover for the iPad Pro.
The iPad Pro comes in 3 versions which are priced as: 32GB WiFi for Rs 67,900, 128 GB iPad Pro with just WiFi at Rs 79,900 and the 128GB WiFi Plus Cellular connectivity at Rs 91,900. Apple Pencil will cost Rs 8,600 in India while the Apple Smart Keyboard costs Rs 14,900.
